Jane believed in SantaClaus. She believed he singlehandledly delivered presents to every good kid in town. Thats why Jane stayed good. She wanted SantaClaus to come. She wanted presents. She knew her parents couldn't afford any for her. So she stayed good all year, put out cookies and milk for Santa and stayed up on Christmas eve to wait up for Santa. She tossed and turned in her bed, her heart fluttered with excitement. At midnight, she heard creaking noises. She creeped out of bed and went downstairs gingerly. She was careful, she did not want to scare Santa. She peeked into the sitting room, and her heart stopped.

She expected a well sized man in a red suit, with a huge red bag filled with presents. But instead, there stood a lanky man bending over the tree, placing some presents underneath. There was no red suit, there was no big bag of presents, there was not even a beard. It was Dad.

What happened to Santa?

Jane was rooted to the stairs. She suddenly realised that maybe there was no Santa after all. Maybe it was a lie. Or maybe Santa was on a break.

Jane did not understand. She did not know what to think.

What should Jane believe now? Is there really Santa? Hmmm.....
